Scenario Paintball Films Presents: Basic Painting!
an Introduction to Scenario Paintball filmed at West Point's 2009 Spring Combat Classic-
Never seen before footage being released!
Posted on January 12th, 2010 No commentsWhile I’ve been incredibly busy with my non-paintball life (our first daughter is now 2 weeks old, regular job, etc. etc.), Jay has been picking up the slack. Neither of us have been posting around online very often, but that certainly doesn’t mean work hasn’t continued. We’ve been steadily working towards our next major project, and are in the “fund raising” portion of it right now.
In Jay’s *spare time* he has somehow also found the resources to rough edit some more before stuff! Even Jay’s “rough work” blows away most people’s final drafts. Take a look:

Thankgiving week’s Thanks!
Posted on November 23rd, 2009 1 commentThis Thanksgiving will mark about the 9th month of existence for Scenario Paintball Films. In this incredibly short amount of time, we certainly have a lot to be thankful for.
Jay and I have met some pretty awesome people and created the foundations for amazing friendships.
We’ve just finished printing the second version of Basic Painting! our first film which is quickly gaining notoriety as the “definitive documentary about scenario paintball.” This is a vendor specific edition, and contains about 34 minutes of Extras exclusive to Rap4, it will be on sale momentarily through them: http://rap4.com
SPF has been to: EMR, NJNam, and both West Point events this year. We had phenomenal times at each event and were greeted with the incredible warmth and hospitality that our scenario sub-section of Paintball is really known for.
The first major distributor has been signed, and copies of our film are speeding their way to Canada, for sale and distribution by known other than the infamous PBL (http://buypbl.com)
Numerous stories and reviews have been written:
Action Pursuit Games (we’ve appeared in 3 separate issues) http://www.actionpursuitgames.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=381
68Caliber.com (first professional review) http://68caliber.com/?p=4882
Catshack Reports (another review, and continuing coverage of our company) http://www.catshackreports.com/2009/11/back-to-basic-painting/
We are currently fulfilling retail sales ourselves and already have a host othertores on board:

In short, Jay and I have a lot to be thankful for this year and it’s all due to YOU the scenario paintball community!

November, Already???
Posted on November 17th, 2009 No commentswow, time has really flown and things have been ridiculously busy for Jay and I in our personal lives. While I’ve been busy with moving into our first house on Halloween, and desperately trying to get things ready for my first child’s arrival “around new year’s,” Jay has been equally busy in his own personal life. I’ve been moving and carrying all of my wife’s and my worldly possessions, Jay has been traveling and working like a madman on other film projects.
Just because neither of us like to slack off, we completed a custom version of Basic Painting which is now at the factory being printed and boxed for delivery just in time for Black Friday. I won’t tell you all yet, but this is a killer version of the movie, and the only way to get it is to go through one of our partners. It is still a little undecided exactly how they are going to disseminate it (either as an add on, a freebie, or separate item), so we’re not going to let the cat out of the bag until they do.
And finally, I put this on our facebook page today …
we’re now listed on IMDB!!!!:

September has been one of our busiest months to date!
Posted on September 30th, 2009 2 commentsI’ve been pretty remiss in updating our company’s blog lately. To be honest so many things have happened in the last month, I’ve been a little too distracted. I will try and recap them at least in some semblance of order:
We started out strong with a showing at West Point’s FALL Combat Classic. We made some more sales, and I heard from many a happy player who called or emailed me personally to thank us for the production quality and let us know how impressed they were and pleased they had not just purchased “yet another paintball DVD.” I can assure you all, I share each and every one of your comments with the rest of the company and for better or worse we listen to them all and take notes for both the next version of this film and the next film that I am working on planning. That being said, I really can’t thank you all enough for your continuing support.
Next on our agenda was the Paintball Extravaganza trade show in Atlanta, GA. At best, the week was tough. Jay and I spent all weekend at WP. Jay flew to GA Monday morning, I worked all day and flew down Monday evening. Our booth needed to be completely setup prior to when the show floor opened at 9am on Tuesday morning. The hours of the show were 9am-7pm with no breaks. At least one of us was required to at our booth at all times to avoid fines, and to assist we brought two additional personnel. For Monday-Wed we had Jay, myself and Jamie. Thursday I was alone until about 4:30 when the infamous Mr. Tackleberry arrived. Friday the show only went until 4pm, Tack and I were in a cab returning to the airport by 4:15. The thing about a trade show (which I learned that week, this was my first and only to date -> so these observations may be specific to the paintball industry) was very little *big* business is actually conducted during the day. It is expected that nearly anyone who is anyone (at least amongst the vendors) meet at the hotel bar between about 9-1:30 and conduct the days business over some well earned drinks. That means our business day was going from about 8:30-1:30 Monday-Thursday, with really only a break for dinner. Like I said before, grueling! But TONS AND TONS OF FUN! I met some amazing people in the industry, snapped a couple of photos and may have opened some big doors for Scenario Paintball Films.
Scenario Paintball Films has now officially begun to work on “our next version.” There is a custom version in the works for a yet to be disclosed manufacturer. One of the major marker manufacturers noticed the quality of our work and talked to us about the possibility of doing an OEM version of the film, complete with a few extras catered specifically to that manufacturer’s products. SPF is pretty stoked about the project as its really something we had originally planned on doing for the first version, but unfortunately we ran out of time due lack of industry support. Now the support is there, Jay and I have planned a very aggressive production and editing schedule and foresee this version will be printed and out the door in plenty of time for the Christmas shopping season.
In the middle of all these things our first major magazine advertisement came out! Check out the December issue of Action Pursuit Games. It hit most newsstands on 22-September. We have the inside rear cover page, and I think it looks pretty awesome!
Lastly this week I’m bouncing between scripting and pre-producing scenes that will be filmed as early as this weekend, continuing to market our current product, and of course my “regular life.” Those who know personally know all the crazy (but awesome) busy stuff going on there.
Hopefully it won’t take another month to update everyone, until then keep watching Basic Painting! and spreading the word about our new production studio and the very best scenario paintball documentary to date!

WooHoo! Our first sales weekend was resounding success!
Posted on September 1st, 2009 No commentsFor anyone new here, I’ve been pretty up and down on this blog. Some days (and posts) are better than other for Scenario Paintball Films, but now the really hard (but FUN) part comes … selling them!
We went Blue Hanse’s field EMR for one of my personal favorite games of the year this last weekend. It was once again time for Viper’s Tippmann Extravaganza @ EMR, and this year marked the unveiling of Basic Painting to the world. A few lucky paintballers had the ability to watch the disk either Friday or Saturday nights. The initial reactions we received this weekend were truly inspiring. Everyone who has had a chance to watch the film so far has informed us it was a truly informative and entertaining Documentary in it’s own right and by far and away the best paintball related production they’ve ever seen.
We should have some more “official type” reviews within the coming weeks and I’m axiously looking forward to sharing them all with you

holy crap, it’s DONE!
Posted on August 27th, 2009 No commentsI just got done communicating with the duplicating company and our DVDs are completed and ready for pickup. It’s been a long time coming, and now we’re just getting to the do or die part.
They were supposed to be done by 1500 today, but somehow finished a little early. Jay and I were planning on driving down there later this afternoon, but now wee may go early.
We will of course have them on sale at the Viper / EMR game this weekend: Tippmann Extravaganza
Hope to see you all there!

almost there!!!!
Posted on August 25th, 2009 No commentshey everyone, here is a quick little update:
Our master file went to the duplication company a week and a half ago. I have been checking with them nearly every day since and they are still on target to complete our order in time (that would be this coming Thursday, 27-Aug-09) for us to bring at least some of the first 1500 copies to EMR this weekend!
that’s right folks, DVDs will be available this weekend at the Viper Game at EMR (in PA.) Any pre-orders that are not picked up in person by Sunday will go out USPS priority mail as promised on Monday, 31-Sep.
in other news, I’ve been making lots phone calls and general shmoozing trying to get the word out a little more about our film project. So far the feedback has really been amazing and everyone contacted has offered their support.
as of right now, we’re listed on 68caliber.com and catshackreports.com:
http://68caliber.com/wordpress/?p=4708 http://www.catshackreports.com/2009/08/basic-painting/remember … first looks this weekend in Pennsylvania!

we’re close to market, very close to having DVDs …
Posted on August 11th, 2009 1 commentOk guys, I’m going to level with all of you:
1. I personally would like to thank each and every person who stepped up and supported Jay and I in this project by ordering their copy early. I am truly touched by you 30+ friends. We scenario players have been complaining about being the bastard children of paintball for years, and this project is about us banding together to do something about it. You folks stepped up and literally put your money where your mouths are, and I for one applaud you for it.
2. We have not stopped or slowed production due to the added expenses, in fact we accelerated it. Yes, it’s cost us at least twice what we originally planned for out of pocket to get this far, but we both believe we have a real winner on our hands, and I’m still counting on you the public to let me know we’re right in sales. Jay has already been in discussion with certain agencies and they are anxiously awaiting our finished product to take to distributors and networks alike.
3. The master is expected to be completed this week and off to the duplicating company. That being said, I still refuse to commit to a release date before I have “boxes in hand” but its looking VERY likely that they will be on sale at EMR during the big Viper game 28-30 August. I have already worked with Blue Hanse (EMR field owner) and he will give us booth space there.
4. Anyone who pre-ordered the film will have the opportunity to retrieve both their 5 dollars of shipping and their DVD at EMR. It has been suggested that instead of giving back their “shipping money” I donate it to this charity. Not being a terribly vengeful person, I would prefer to take all that money (about $150 assuming no one wants their 5 bucks back) and instead give it to the Wounded Warriors Project. Any orders not picked up that weekend will go out in either the following Monday or Tuesday’s mail.
5. Of course if the above is true that means we will have the remainder of the first DVD run for sale at ‘the Point for 12-13 September.

we’re interviewed by BEA YOUNGS and Paintball Sports Magazine!
Posted on June 16th, 2009 No commentsHey all.
In case you folks still don’t have your fill of information about Jay and I, there is now yet another resource for you:
We were recently interviewed by none other than the infamous BEA YOUNGS PAXSON herself. As I had always suspected from her online persona Bea is a really cool person to talk to, and Jay and I both sincerely appreciate her taking the time for us. Seeing as she is currently the editor-in-chief at Paintball Sports Magazine, it would seem appropriate the interview is posted there:
right now its on the main page Paintball Sports Magazine online but will most likely scroll off by tomorrow.
to get to the story directly:
Bea Youngs Paxson Interview with Jay and Aaron
Of course don’t forget, we’re getting closer and closer to July, so make sure your pre-orders are in early. We’re still kicking around the idea of creating a package at an additional cost with t-shirts or something. If that happens, anyone who has pre-ordered before I announce what we’re doing would get that t-shirt (or another product, depending on what we do) for free.
